Last Saturday, Te Manuka Tūtahi Marae was alive with the spirit of hauora as whānau gathered for a day dedicated to health and wellbeing. The event, Hauora Day hosted by Te Tohu o Te Ora o Ngāti Awa, aimed to promote healthy lifestyles and empower whānau with knowledge and tools to thrive.

Whānau enjoyed free health checks, ensuring access to vital information about their wellbeing. A series of interactive workshops, including a kidney donation and transplant kōrero, which highlighted the importance of organ donation. Another highlight was the Oro Atua Taonga Pūoro workshop, where participants explored the healing power of traditional Māori instruments and their role in holistic health.

For tamariki, there were games and activities, while the maara display inspired sustainable living and growing fresh kai at home. Whānau also enjoyed kai and giveaways, reinforcing the message that healthy choices can be enjoyable and accessible.

This Hauora Day was more than an event - it was a commitment to strengthening whānau wellbeing through education, connection, and cultural practices.
