He Ara Hou – The Opportunity

As one of our valued kaimahi steps into a new role within the organisation, an opportunity has now opened for a motivated individual to join our Whānau Resilience team in Whakatāne. In this full-time permanent role, you will work alongside iwi, community providers, and government agencies to ensure whānau are well-supported to achieve positive health, education, and social outcomes for their tamariki.

As a Family Start Kaitiaki, you will:

• Deliver an intensive home visiting service to build strong, resilient whānau
• Develop and implement whānau-led plans grounded in their strengths and aspirations
• Provide practical parenting guidance and advocate for their needs
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of tamariki is always prioritised

You’re committed to seeing tamariki thrive, and to strengthening the wellbeing of whānau. You lead with empathy and bring a trauma-informed approach to your mahi.

You also bring:

• A relevant qualification or experience in social work, health, or education
• The ability to build trust and form strong relationships
• Confidence working alongside whānau with complex needs
• Strong communication, organisation, and decision-making skills
• An understanding of te reo Māori me ōna tikanga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
• A full, clean driver’s licence and clear Police Vetting
